FAQ

Is there mercury in vaccines, and could it harm my child?

No vaccines in the UK contain mercury. It used to be the case (pre 2004) that some vaccines contained a compound called thiomersal which is a mercury-based preservative.

Thorough research found no association between the levels of mercury used in vaccines and conditions like brain damage or autism in children. Still, to lower mercury exposure, and in response to public concern the UK has completely discontinued the use of thiomersal in vaccines.

Hiya, I'm Lily, 11 in Cornwall. I went for the flu spray again this term. It's like sniffing a funny mist – tickles a bit and then makes your nose run a bit but it’s fine. The nurses are ace; they chatted about your fave games while doing it. I stayed well all through the holidays. If you hate needles like me, this one's perfect. Go for it!
